The Mercedes Benz E-Class, a mid-sized luxury vehicle, happens to be one of the most successful cars the world has ever seen. Introduced as a 1982 model, it soon caught on as a cult figure and became popular as a luxury or executive car.
The current E-Class version, the W211 which was launched in 2002, was considered more superior than its previous version and proved to attract the youth in a great way due to its advanced design that resulted in a complete change in appearance. It is even stressed that almost 2000 technical alterations have been done to both the Saloon and the Estate models.
The E-Class offers a remarkable variety of eight diverse engines which consist of five petrol engines that vary from the 1.8 litre, 4-cylinder ones to the 5.5 litre supercharged V8 engine and three other advanced and cost-effective diesel engines too. Transmissions offered in the new model also vary accordingly from 6-speed manual, 5-speed automatic to 7G-Tronic automatic system. Other important features include balancer shafts, improved piston and cylinder head cooling and improved turbocharger responsiveness. The parking brake is foot operated and Speedtronic variable speed cruise control facilitates the selection of required speed.
